Artist's comments:
"I was spurred to create this painting from my memory of a biker at the
Sturgis Rally. As I rode up to him, he was looking back to discover
that he had lost his fellow riders. In doing so, he struck this
quintessential pose that inspired me. This is such a common experience
among bikers that I had to manifest it. But the desolate isolation of
this image suggests an even deeper meaning. It becomes an expression
of homage to all of those dearly departed road warriors who have gone on
before us."
