For Lorin, creating visual art comes easily. His works speak the visual language of his life experiences, each with sentiment. His concepts and subjects are each a product of relationships, of nature, fanciful thoughts, of historic leadership and human nature to name a few.

In 1977, Lorin received his B.A. in Interior Architecture from Kansas State University. He then moved to Dallas, Texas founding Lorin Designs, crafting the finest custom furnishings to the design trade for over 20 years. He developed a clientele of the Dallas elite.

Not completely satisfied, he continued his journey towards artistry in sculpture since relocating to serene San Marcos, Texas finding a relaxed community that has been a regular source of inspiration in his work. His most proud sculpture titled "Texas Oak" (2002) is of a giant and yet unsung Texas hero, which can be viewed in two public locations, inside the Texas State Cemetery and the San Marcos City Hall.

Lorin works in refined detail stemming from his fine crafting days, and has developed the painterly approach used by many Master painters with similar effect. Lorin strives for the unique yet classic sculpted pose using live and photographed models. He paints in plein air and alla prima (painting from life) to capture lighting effects for those completely made up settings, all to make each appear actual and natural. It is his sense of design that enables these compositions to go from imagination to reality, to make possible the dream or surreal world made lifelike.
