The sights and sounds of Woodward Ave come to life in this incredible tribute to the Mercury Marauder. As the on-lookers gather in front of one of The Motor City's landmark establishments, Duggan's Irish Pub, to watch the action, the cars and their drivers put on a great show! Adding to the excitement, the silver Florida Patrol car lights up the night with it's emergency lights!

The annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, Michigan is billed as the world’s largest one-day automotive event, drawing 1.5 million people and over 40,000 classic cars from around the globe. Bringing out the best of the best as well as some of the world's most unique automobiles, it's where you might catch a rare glimpse of a historical race car like the #15 Mercury Marauder driven by Parnelli Jones, or see one of the nation's largest Marauder gatherings.

“When the Motor City Marauders approached me about doing a painting featuring the 2003/2004 Marauder, they mentioned that each year they put on a show at the Burger King right on Woodward Ave. When Linda, the kids, and I attended the Cruise a few years back, it seemed like Duggan's was definatley a hot spot. I liked the look of the awning and signage at dusk - it provided the perfect luminescent backdrop I was looking for. Turns out, it's also right across the street from the Burger King, making it the perfect setting for the painting.
As always, the focus is on the cars, but I like to include other, more subtle details to draw the viewer in. Look closer and you'll see the Burger King reflected in the black car.
I do a lot of research for a piece, especially for technical accuracy. During this painting, I had the unique opportunity of being able to correspond with the Mercury Marauder's production manager, Steve Babcock - that definitely made it easier - thanks Steve!”

You can have your choice of print numbers.  The last 3 digits of VIN numbers
have always been popular. Let us know your top 3 choices.

It's the early '70s and a summer storm has just passed, leaving in it's wake a service station doing a booming business.  Now that the driver of the dual tanker truck has done his job, the Cudas are circling - eager to fill their tanks!

The gleaming tanker truck, puddles left behind by the rain, and the body panels of these powerful 1970-74 E-Body Cudas, are the perfect mirrors to capture the amazing reflections.  Drawing you in, the subtle details and incredible images tell the whole story.

Michael's comment:  "I've always liked the idea of adding a gasoline tanker as the primary reflective surface in one of my paintings.  The way the tanker's shape compressed reflections presented an interesting challenge, that I couldn't resist.

The reflections in the dual tanks of the truck allow you to view the scene from different perspectives.  It's as if you are standing in a new spot in each reflection.  This lets you get a better understanding of the scene - a sort of, 360 degree view!  What I like, is that the reflections allow you to see more than just the obvious scene in front of you.  Like, you don't really notice the service station, until you look more closely at the reflection in the tanker".

KICKING OFF THE 2009 SHOW SEASON Michael  released the first painting in his new series, entitled "Above Them All," at the RM Auction in Toronto this April. As it turns out, RM is currently facilitating the sale of the car, making unveiling it at the event even more timely.

"It's A Grand Sport" features one of Chevrolet's most historically significant Corvettes, the Grand Sport 002. Michael chose this car specifically due to it's historical status. In fact, all the cars featured in this series will be iconic in some way - either having a profound impact on the automotive industry or the car collector hobby.

Making the series even more unique is the versatility of each painting - you'll be able to order your print as either a vertical or horizontal, depending on your space. Michael will title, number and sign your print according to the orientation you choose!

Limited Edition Prints (limited to 500) and Artist Proofs (limited to 20) of "It's A Grand Sport" are being reproduced using the giclée method on watercolor paper. The method of reproduction, as well as the paper, have the effect of very closely mimicking the original watercolor painting.

Most all automotive enthusiasts have, at some time, probably had a car or two they had every intention of restoring, just never got around to it. But even as the car just sits there, no matter what shape it's in, they still enjoy looking at it ... glad to have that 'diamond in the rough' in their collection!

"The Goat Farmer" is the 5th painting in Michael's Muscle Car Landscape Series. The setting and story were inspired by the GTO's nickname and by the people who hang on to their car collections, no matter what. Some hope to restore them eventually, while others are content to watch nature take it's toll.

No matter what kind of collector you are or the condition of the cars, we all have one thing in common ... we love muscle cars and sometimes, we take pleasure in just looking at them!

Considered by many to be the first muscle car built, this painting is the ultimate tribute to one of history's most trend setting automobiles. From the legendary Tri-power of the '66 GTO to the tire-scorching might of the 400 ci Ram Air IV equipped Judge, this gathering of goats contains some of the most memorable high-performance Pontiacs ever created.

On a warm summer evening in 1974, action film enthusiasts fill the RTE 440 Drive-in to witness one of the best and most exciting chase films to feature a Charger. Arriving just in time for the preview — these lucky drivers catch a glimpse of what's to come!

In this incredibly detailed painting, Michael takes us back to the mid 70s, to his idea of the 'ultimate Charger night.' If you're a Charger owner or enthusiast, what better way to spend an evening, than surrounded by these concours cars while watching the cult classic on the big screen.

Whenever I see a green '67 or '68 Mustang fastback, I immediately, and without thinking, conjure up images of Lt. Frank Bullitt piloting his Mustang down the streets of San Francisco in pursuit of the menacing 1968 Charger.
I can't help it. It just happens!

From the first time I watched the movie, "Bullitt," I thought to myself ... "That looks like fun. I would love to do that!" ...
So I did!

As with most of Michael's work, it's all in the details.
And this painting is no exception. You'll have to look closely to spot the subtle reflections and small details.
Here are just a few:
