Artist/Designer Paul Smith has been drawing and
painting for as long as he can remember. Of his numerous special commissions, most notable
is Harley Davidson's legendary Eagle on the bar-and-shield logo. Commissioned by Willie G.
Davidson, Smith designed and developed the official tank & fairing decals for the
Motor Company's 1976 "Liberty Edition" motorcycles, a limited edition series of
motorcycles honoring the USA's 200th Bicentennial celebration.
The Eagle on the bar-and-shield logo was quickly
adopted as the corporation symbol and is considered one of the world's most recognized
trademarks today.
Over the years, Smith has been commissioned to create
numerous Harley-Davidson graphics and commemoratives. For the past six years, Smith has
developed the official H.O.G. Rally logo and has designed several graphics for the Annual
Harley-Davidson Dealer Show. His Righteous Rider Series and Righteous Santa Series are
enjoyed by many.
