Artist comments:  "A group of riders pose for a photo against the backdrop of Mount Rushmore.  The original photo reference for this work is a shot taken of the Jack Pine gypsies Motorcycle Club at their first Black Hills Rally in Sturgis, S.D.  "The Enthusiast" magazine of May 1938 showed the photograph on the cover.  David's awesome talent in re-creating the colors of the original scene have allowed us to see this event as it happened, not as some old, faded black and white photograph."

Artist Comments:  "This piece invokes nostalgic memories of early television viewing, and the gang of kids who got into trouble almost every episode.  The subject of their displeasure is a stern policeman, who has obviously outrun their vehicle with his much faster Harley-Davidson.  We're sure that after they receive the ticket, they'll all come up with a plan to defray the cost of the fine.  Or they'll find a way to make this officer wish he'd never pulled this car full of rascals over in the first place.

Inspired by a photo that accompanied a press release that MGM put out in 1934, promoting "Our Gang", the predecessors of "The Little Rascals".

"David Uhl found himself fascinated with post WWII conceptions of outlaw biker gangs and their role in American society.  Could this marine veteran, entranced with a classic outlaw biker movie, be comparing his life and lifestyle with what he sees on the silver screen?  He sure looks comfortable kicking back at the drive-in as the cool twilight settles in.  The individualization of the motorcycle began in this era, when enthusiasts began to personalize them towards better functionality.  Our veteran subject's cycle is a collection of various parts, all chosen to provide a fast, light ride."
