Artist comments:  "A group of riders pose for a photo against the backdrop of Mount Rushmore.  The original photo reference for this work is a shot taken of the Jack Pine gypsies Motorcycle Club at their first Black Hills Rally in Sturgis, S.D.  "The Enthusiast" magazine of May 1938 showed the photograph on the cover.  David's awesome talent in re-creating the colors of the original scene have allowed us to see this event as it happened, not as some old, faded black and white photograph."

This 70th Sturgis Commemorative art work features Scott's daughter Alexa while the past two years have depicted his other daughter Olivia and this Dad - Dallas Jacobs.  This period masterpiece was created at the famous gas station -Tower Conoco in Texas which has been in existence since 1938 and is a historical landmark.

There are many desirable elements present in this painting - period correct '49 and '52 Harleys, a vintage landmark gas station, Scott's beautiful daughter Alexa combing in a big salute to women who "ride their own".  Check out the "Sturgis 70" sign on the wall commemorating the 70th Anniversary of The Sturgis Rally and also Highway 70 which runs through Texas on the way to Sturgis.

Scott estimates that he has in excess of 500 hours of labor on this painting - for your enjoyment in the years to come!"

Artist's comments:  "I was spurred to create this painting from my memory of a biker at the Sturgis Rally.  As I rode up to him, he was looking back to discover that he had lost his fellow riders.  In doing so, he struck this quintessential pose that inspired me.  This is such a common experience among bikers that I had to manifest it.  But the desolate isolation of this image suggests an even deeper meaning.  It becomes an expression of homage to all of those dearly departed road warriors who have gone on before us."
